I’m personal injury attorney, Mike Lombardi. If you’re a motorcyclist, be a responsible rider.
Motorcycle accidents are not always the driver’s fault.
Even though most motorcycle accidents are caused when the driver is distracted or just doesn’t see the motorcycle sharing the road with him, careless motorcyclists can also cause wrecks. There are ways you can avoid such accidents or at least protect yourself the best you can.
How to avoid accidents and protect yourself
As a motorcyclist, you have to be a defensive driver. You can’t afford a moment of inattention to what cars around you are doing. Staying focused while riding can be the difference between life and death or permanent disability.
How to stay safe
Here are some very simple tips that can keep you safe while driving your bike:
- Wear a helmet and protective clothing.
- Get professional training, and learn about motorcycle safety.
- Maintain your bike.
- Don’t share lanes with other vehicles.
- Avoid road hazards.
- Don’t speed.
- Know your skill level.
- Learn proper group riding etiquette when driving with riding buddies.
- Don’t be a show off.
- Never drive under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
