Today I am going to try to answer some of the many questions I have been asked by my clients who were injured in a motorcycle accident.
Immediately After The Accident
Many ask: what should I do after crashing? If you are able, be sure to get the name of the driver, license plate, driver’s license numbers, the name of his insurance company, the contact information of any witnesses. And call the police so they can write up a police report.
Lawyer Up
Do I need a personal injury lawyer to help me, or should I try to handle it on my own? If you are injured, I strongly advise contacting a lawyer, especially like one from our firm. They are well-versed in motorcycle law and motorcycle accidents. If you try to file a claim and make a deal with the at-fault driver’s insurance company, on your own, they may try to take advantage of what you don’t know. They are in the business to make money, and they won’t make it easy for you to receive all the damages you are entitled to receive. What if there’s an error in the police report? Will your lawyers get involved and check it out? Yes, we check out all the evidence, contact the witnesses, and get to the truth of the matter.
Getting A Settlement
Will my case have to go to court? Fortunately, if liability is clear, we can usually settle with the insurance company for a fair amount. If a lawsuit is necessary, we will be there to represent you. What does the settlement cover? It should cover your medical bills, any associated costs like prescription medication, mileage to and from the doctor, lost wages, pain and suffering, future medical care, if necessary, and property damage loss. Any permanent injury will have a greater impact on the value of your case. How much does it cost to hire a lawyer? Nothing, our initial consultation is free, and attorney fees are taken from the settlement, you won’t owe us anything if we are unable to sell your case or win a court victory.
